| Brief description of the model kit: | Plastic model kit of Sd.Kfz 181 Tiger I is also as good as other Dragon models. We can find the photo etched parts sheet and exhaust covers included in the box . There is also 230 mm metallic cable wire that imitates the real tow wire rope very well. Tank bath and tank tops parts do not fit very well and both must be sanded and slightly modified. |
| Brief description of construction: | When I built a model of Stug IV last time, which I liked, I decided to buy another similar kit in a same scale. I bought Tiger model, which is a legend among tanks of the World War II. I was surprised by a complex arrangement of guide and drive wheels on the chassis. I painted model with Humbrol and Model Master paints. |

History
Panzerkampfwagen VI Tiger (also PzKpfw VI Tiger ausf.E or SdKfz 181) was a German heavy tank developed during the Second World War. This famous German tank was manufactured since August 1942 until August 1944. 1,350 machines were produced in total.
On 20 November 1941 the Germans managed to capture intact Soviet tank T-34. This type of tank caused consternation because it proved to be a worthy rival against German tanks. Therefore, every effort has been put on the construction of a new tank which could resist T-34.
On the day of Hitler's 20th birthday in April 1942, Henschel and Porsche introduced prototypes of new type of tank VK 4501, which received name PzKpfw VI Tiger. It was decided that these tanks will be produced by a favored company Henschel.
First three exemplars of Tiger tanks were deployed in the fighting in September 1942 on the Eastern Front in the Leningrad area, but without much effect. The only asset was the fact that none of the anti-tank weapons could not pierce its thick armour.
In some respects, Tiger tank had some serious shortcomings. It was a clumsy giant with engine and gearbox not designed to drive such a heavy vehicle. It often suffered mechanical failures, it had considerable fuel consumption and limited range.
