How to create a bottle or Panzerfaust
Difficulty:
I have never had a bigger problem with creating bottles for my dioramas. But only until the moment when I started building models in 1/72 scale. I used technique of stretching a piece of transparent frame from a model kit, with help of heat above flame of a candle. Unfortunately, it is quite good only for models in 1/35 scale. For smaller models, it is more difficult, because results are not very nice and they usually lack proper geometry.
When I bought a new hobby mini grinder, I discovered that I can attach small round pieces of frames, and I can mill it with a break-off blade knife. Hold the knife in a sharp angle and don't push too much. Proceed in small layers. Thus, you can create lots of accessories for your diorama, such as bazookas, bottles, grenades, lights, sprays, etc. Remember to wear protective goggles against random falling off parts.
To produce a bottle, we will need:
- the rests of a transparent plastic box
- break-off knife or scalpel
- mini grinder or drill
Procedure:
- Hold the piece of frame firmly.
- Speed up grinder to 5000 rpm or more.
- Mill the frame slow and lightly with break-off knife, until you get the desired shape.
