Welcome to the PLASMO website
to the world of plastic models of one enthusiastic hobbyist
PlasmoPLASMO is an abbreviation made from two words - plastic models. By coincidence, in Latin it means create or shape something. Perhaps you are beginning to realize that this website might have something to do with assembling plastic model kits. If you think so... then you are absolutely correct. Almost everything here is about plastic models. It has been my big hobby for many years. I have decided to make photos of my creations and publish them on this website. Thanks to it, you can admire beauty of airplanes, military vehicles and lifelike diorama models.
In addition to photos in photo gallery, I will sometimes publish an article about some lesser known, but interesting, techniques that can help you create better and more realistic plastic models.
A note on English translation: I am not a native English speaker, so this translation
is really far from perfection. But on the other hand, I think it is a little better
than Google Translator. At least, I hope so.
What I am doing right now
I usually have more than one model going on at the same time. You can look forward to seeing them finished soon.
News
4.1.2015 - PF 2015
All the best to the new year and a lot of success when building scale
models! During the last year I was also working on my
Youtube channel,
where I have put several videos of my scale models. One by one, all
models that can be seen on Youtube should get also here to the website
as a page with photos in the gallery or a new article. For this year
I have a big supply of interesting models, so you have a lot of things
you can look forward to.
5.1.2014 - PF 2014
All the best to the new year and a lot of success when building scale
models! I will try to add more photos to the gallery and more articles
than previous year, when I didn't have much time to do it. I have a lot
of finished and almost finished models, so I will try to add some new
photos soon... and also translate articles from the Czech version of the
website.
31.12.2012 - PF 2013
Happy New year and I wish you many beautiful scale models and the least
spilled paints accidents and lost parts from sprues.
30.12.2012 - W40k Ork Blitza Bommer
The Blitza-Bommer is suitable for the bravest (some might say the most unhinged)
flyboy. These aircrafts 'aim' their bombs by diving at the target, releasing
their Boom Bomb at the very last moment possible - something which tends to
panic the onboard Grot Gunner. As every flyboy knows, you go much faster
when plummeting downwards, and some Orks completely forget to pull out of
their dive and end up smashing into the ground. Once they've blown
everything up (and hopefully not themselves) then there's a pair of
super shootas ready to mop up any stray or squishy targets.
29.12.2012 - W40k Space Marine Stormtalon Gunship
The Stormtalon Gunship serves the armies of the Adeptus Astartes as both
an interceptor and ground-attack craft. It is fast enough to engage all
but the swiftest of enemies, and sufficiently well-armed to reduce the
chosen foe to a mangle of twisted wreckage and ruined flesh.
12.12.2012 - Review of new Revell Battlestar Galactica model kits
As a big fan of the Battlestar Galactica series, I always wanted to have
models such as legendary Colonial Viper Mk II or Battlestar Galactica
battleship. The only producer so far was an American company Moebius,
which sells all these models, but it is difficult to get them in Europe.
That's why I was very happy, when Revell introduced three new models in
its catalog.
1.12.2012 - Sherman M4A3 105mm
Sherman M4A3 105mm is a version of the most well known american tank during
the second world war. The Sherman was originally intended to carry a 75mm main gun
but the turret design also incorporated features to allow a 105mm howitzer to be fitted.
21.10.2012 - Jagdpanzer 38(t) Hetzer
Jagdpanzer 38(t) Hetzer The Jagdpanzer 38(t) (Sd.Kfz. 138/2), later known as Hetzer (
baiter
), was a German light tank
destroyer of the Second World War based on a modified Czechoslovakian Panzer 38(t) chassis. You can see photos
of this model in the photo gallery section.
2.10.2012 - Messerschmitt Me-163B/S Komet
Messerschmitt 163 Komet was the first German rocket plane evolved from
the pioneering aerodynamic research of Dr. Alexander Lippisch. The rocket
powered Messerschmitt 163 Komet was designed as a stopgap to stem the flood
of allied bombers over Germany in the remaining months of World War II.
1.10.2012 - Warhammer 40000 Assault on Black Reach - Space Marines
I had little time during summer holidays and I haven't added anything new.
On the other hand, I have finished a lot of new models. I will try to add
new photos soon. Perhaps there will be even a new article. Today, I have
uploaded second part of photos of Warhammer minniatures from Assault on
Black Reach box.
16.7.2012 - Warhammer 40000 Assault on Black Reach - The Ork Warband
The Orks are a terrible menace, a fearsome race of brutal aliens that
infest the length and breadth of the galaxy. Orks are born for war, and
enjoy nothing more than the deadly clash of battle, rejoicing in violent
close combats above all else. This lust for destruction and love of
bloodshed makes the Orks among the most potent forces in the galaxy.
11.7.2012 - Messerschmitt Bf-109 E-4
Summer holidays are in full swing and new finished models are coming one
by one. Today, it is another model of German figter aircraft from WWII
- Messerschmitt Bf-109 E-4.
21.6.2012 - Imperial Guard Cadians
The Cadian Shock Troopers are Imperial Guard regiments from the fortress
world of Cadia. On Cadia the birth rate and recruitment rate are synonymous.
Cadian regiments are highly disciplined, excellent shots and use elite shock
troops to lead their attacks.
19.6.2012 - Ork Gretchin
Gretchin, Grots or Runts are a lesser Ork slave race who do the menial
tasks which Orks consider they are above. Gretchin are known for their
poor combat abilities, but they compensate for this by sheer numbers.
18.5.2012 - Masking fluid - graphigum
Graphigum is a water-soluble protective coating which is used to cover
parts of a model that should not be painted. When it dries, it
forms an elastic layer that can be removed after painting the model.
Usually it is produced in a milky liquid consistency, which is applied
to the model surface.
17.5.2012 - The Nazi swastika on scale models
If you have ever built a World War II German aircraft model or
military vehicle model, then you have probably already met with the fact
that most manufacturers don't include German swastika on transfer sheets.
They either provide only a black diamond or omit it altogether.
Universal sheet with a number of swastikas of different sizes can be
then very useful.
16.5.2012 - Electric mini hobby drill
I decided to write a few articles about interesting tools and equipment,
that I use for my hobby. Last time it was a protective mask, and now it
is an electric mini hobby drill, which also serves as a milling cutter.
I use it for about a year and now I can not even imagine my hobby
without it.
10.5.2012 - Hawker Hurricane Mk.I
When I have already built the Supermarine Spitfire, I could not miss
another famous aircraft from the Battle of Britain - Hawker Hurricane
Mk.I. Again, photos can be found in the gallery and you can evaluate
how good the result is.
24.4.2012 - Respirators and protective masks
I have written a short article about how I started using respirators
and occasionally also a gas mask. :-) Solvent vapors and synthetic
paints may be quite annoying in small rooms and they do not benefit your
health too. Sometimes it is worth the effort to reach for a protective
mask.
23.4.2012 - Supermarine Spitfire Mk.Ia
You may have already noticed that there is another model of British Spitfire
fighter aircraft in the photo gallery. I was building it together with a
similar aircraft called Hawker Hurricane, which will be here soon.
3.4.2012 - W40k Chaos Space Marines
I have added photos of another miniature figures from the game Warhammer 40000.
There are three Chaos Space Marines which are produced in a simplified and cheaper
form. They do not have as many parts as the other models and there are no
option parts, but I think they look pretty good.
2.4.2012 - W40k Space Marine Bike
The new model at this site is maybe a little surprising because it is
a bike from the game Warhammer 40000. Recently, my brother brought me
several Warhammer models from Brno, and Space Marine Bike is the first
I have finished. These scale models are primarily about painting,
because the figures are often fully sculpted or there are only few parts that must be
glued together.
11.3.2012 - How to build a plastic model (7) - Final adjustments and weathering
In the last few weeks I was rather building models than writing
articles. The promised final article about building plastic models for
beginners was still missing and few impatient readers asked me when it
will be ready. So I finally wrote the article and now you can find here
on the website.
7.3.2012 - AH-64 Apache Longbow
After the Comanche helicopter, I built another one, perhaps a little more
familiar helicopter. It is a model AH-64 Apache Longbow, which is an
upgraded version of the helicopter.
3.2.2012 - Beskyd Model Kit Show 2007
Again, I added photos from one competition. This time it is an exhibition
in Kopřivnice in the Moravian-Silesian Region. I had two of my models
at the competition (Grumman TBF Avenger and Messerschmitt Bf109 diorama).
31.1.2012 - MODELLBRNO 2009
I have added a large number of photos from the competition and exhibition
MODELLBRNO 2009. There were a lot of different kinds of models.
I also participated in the competition with three of my models
(A-10 Thunderbolt 2, B-25 Mitchell and Desert Patrol diorama).
29.1.2012 - Panzer VI Tiger
Tyger, Tyger, burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?
18.1.2012 - Bell 47
And we have a second helicopter here. Today I added photos of the finished
model Bell 47 helicopter produced again by Italeri.
17.1.2012 - New URL address
Website was transfered to a new URL address with its own second level domain.
- www.plasticmodels.eu. I have also set up a new webhosting.
Now, webpages should be loading much faster and without errors.
14.1.2012 - RAH-66 Comanche
Recently, I decided to build a model of helicopter RAH-66 Comanche in 1/72
scale produced by Italeri. I wanted an easy model in compare to previous
difficult one. I have managed to finish the helicopter in 3 days.
5.1.2012 - Skoda Tudor
I have added a new model of Czechoslovakian military vehicle Skoda 1101-P 'Tudor'.
1.12.2011 - Supermarine Spitfire Mk.I
I published photos of Spitfire model that served as an example how
to build a plastic model in several articles in Tips and Tricks section.
29.11.2011 - How to build a plastic model (6) - Water-slide decals
Our model is assembled and painted, so today I will show you how to
apply water-slide decals.
29.11.2011 - How to build a plastic model (5) - Painting
In this part of tutorial, we will attach the remaining parts and we will paint the model.
Proper painting of model is probably one of the most difficult tasks
when you build a plastic model, but it is also one of the most important.
24.11.2011 - How to build a plastic model (4) - Construction of fuselage and wings
Today, we will make some progress with building our model,
and we will assemble fuselage, wings, vertical stabilizer
and horizontal stabilizers.
23.11.2011 - How to build a plastic model (3) - Starting the construction
Finally, we start building the model. We begin with the cockpit, gluing parts together
and painting. In addition, I made little improvements of my own.
21.11.2011 - How to build a plastic model (2) - Model selection and equipment
Today in my tutorial for beginners, we will choose a suitable model and
I will tell you what you need to start with building plastic model kits.
20.11.2011 - How to build a plastic model (1) - Introduction
I decided to create a comprehensive multi-part tutorial that describes
how to start building plastic models. Articles are intended for very
beginners, so do not worry that still you do not know some things.
I will build a plastic model step by step and I will describe its construction.
18.11.2011 - Commenting functionality added
Now, you can add your comments below articles in the section
Tips and Tricks. Adding comments should work
also in the section Photo Gallery for every
displayed model. If you have any question regarding published article
or model, then you can ask by adding comment. I will do my best to answer
every question. Comments are shared both in English and Czech version
of the website.
18.11.2011 - How to create transparent cockpit canopy
The article desribes how to create your own cockpit canopy for your models.
Transparent parts from model kits are usually too much thick, and I decided
to make my own.
17.11.2011 - How to create corrugated iron
In this tutorial you will learn how to create corrugated iron that can be used
as a little improvement for your diorama models.
8.11.2011 - Native Americans Pueblo
The photo gallery is richer by another paper model. It is a model of a
Native Americans Pueblo.
5.11.2011 - How to create a bottle
I published a new article about creating small accessories, which you
can make with hobby drill or even standard drill. I was able to create
both small glass bottles and a panzerfaust.
2.11.2011 - StuG IV
I have added photos of my new model that I have finished recently. It is
German assault gun Stug IV in 1/72 scale.
22.10.2011 - Tetris game
Somewhere, there is a link to a secret webpage where you can play Tetris
game that I have created. The game is programmed for HTML5 standard, so
you need to have a modern web browser. You can access the secret page
from any other webpage, so you have to look carefully, and you will find
it. Try to beat my high score! Little hint: red.
22.10.2011 - Grumman TBF Avenger
I put photos of another model into the photo gallery. This time, it is
Grumman TBF Avenger in 1/48 scale.
21.10.2011 - USS Arizona
I have published another, much older model - the United States Navy
battleship USS Arizona. This model is quite unconventional for this website,
because it is a paper model. And yet, I think that it doesn't matter at all.
21.10.2011 - Messerschmitt Bf-109
I took another, a little older diorama out of my cupboard and I have taken
some pictures. There is a German fighter aircraft Messerschmitt Bf-109
and a light military vehicle Volkswagen Kübelwagen.
20.10.2011 - Zlín Z-50LX
This is not about something entirely new, because I published photos of
my new model few days ago. But I managed to finish English translation,
so it is finally in these news. I have assembled model of Zlín Z-50LX.
It is one of my favourite aerobatic airplanes. I have painted the model
in colors of Czech aerobatic group Flying Bulls.
26.9.2011 - Macchi MC.200 Seatta
New model for a new day. I still have some others somewhere in my
cupboard, and I will post additional photos really soon. Today I published
photos of aircraft Macchi MC.200 Saetta. It was used by Italy during World War II.
25.9.2011 - Venator Star Destroyer
From today, photo gallery contains another model. This time, it is little
larger, a half meter long model. It is Republic Star Destroyer, class
Venator from the third episode of Star Wars saga. Also, you could see
it in animated series Clone Wars. The model is so big that it doesn't
fit into my cupboard.
23.9.2011 - How to create shiny metal surface
Today, another short, but very useful, article has been published. It
describes how to make shiny metal surface on plastic models. Result of
described procedure is really fantastic and I would never thought that
it is possible to create something like that.
21.9.2011 - How to create posters
Again, another article has been added. It describes how to create little
posters for walls or little newspapers that you can use for your diorama.
18.9.2011 - How to create green transparent glass
Today another article has been published. This time, it shows how easily
you can make green tinted cockpit glass. Some modelers don't paint glass
because they don't know how to do it correctly. If you read my article
than you will know how to do it right.
16.9.2011 - How to create spring
The first article has been added to the section Tips and Tricks. It is
about making springs. You can use them as complement for landing gears
of your aircrafts.
15.9.2011 - Upgrade of my website
My website has been significantly reconstructed, and now it has a little
better design and architecture. Not everything is complete, but the most
important thing - photo gallery is finished. It contains choice of my
7 models. All of them were built during years 2008 and 2011. One of the
most interesting models is surely diorama from postapocalyptic world of
Fallout. I think that all sci-fi fans will appreciate it.
